Minimum Swimming Requirements
Every swimmer must be able to swim one length of the 25-meter pool
unassisted and swim comfortably with their face in the water. While
stroke development and teaching are a very important part of what
our coaches do, with so many swimmers, it is not fair to expect
them to be in the water teaching one-on-one. That would be neither
fair nor safe for the other swimmers. The coaches will assess the
ability of all swimmers during the first two weeks of practice. The
coaches will recommend swimming lessons for those swimmers who do
not meet the swim team minimum requirements. If a child does not
meet the minimum requirements, the registration fee, minus the
league insurance of $6.00 will be refunded.
Practices
Swimmers should make
every effort to attend all practices. Situations such as long term
illness, vacation, or camp are expected, but should be reported to
the coach in writing. Please place any written notices in the
Coaches Folder.
Any illness or injury
during a practice should always be reported to the
coach.
Only swim team
members will be allowed in the pool during practice. An adult must
accompany younger siblings and non-swim team members. The baby pool
is closed during practices. Your cooperation is
appreciated.
In the event of rain,
practice will be held with the exception of thunder or lightning.
If practice is cancelled due to inclement weather, we will post a
notice on our website. We will also send out an e-mail notice.
Meets
The coaches select
meet entries for the swimmers including relay teams. Meet event
assignments will be posted on the Froggers website in the Meet
Schedule link by Wednesday morning for Wednesday evening meets and
by Friday afternoon for Saturday morning meets. Swimmers and
parents are asked to check the website prior to the meet so they
know their assigned events. If your swimmer is selected for a relay
and CAN NOT participate, please contact the Head Coach
immediately.
Swimmers are asked to
arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the meet warm-ups to allow
time for check-in. All swimmers must check-in with their coach when
they arrive for the meet so the coaches know that they will be
available for their assigned events. Parent volunteers must also
sign the Parent Volunteer Log at the Clerk of Course table at the
beginning of the meet to verify their participation. Each family is
required to volunteer for 6 meet positions during the season. If
the family requirement is not met, swimmers will not receive their
year end awards.
During the meets,
swimmers are required to stay in the designated team areas. The
Clerks of Course will be calling for swimmers prior to their
assigned events and lining them up. Parents should remind their
swimmers that it is the responsibility of the swimmer to stay in
the team area and be ready when their name is called or else they
may miss their event.
Good sportsmanship is
beneficial to building team morale. Swimmers are to stay in the
water until all swimmers in their heat finish the event.
Congratulate swimmers from the other team as well as your
own.
It is the
responsibility of the parent to provide transportation to all
meets. You may want to arrange carpools with other parents if you
cannot attend.
Absences
Swimmers are expected
to attend swim team practices and meets. All planned vacations and
absences must be noted on the Planned Absence Form and given at
registration prior to the start of the first practice. Unexpected
absences due to illness or other obligations must be submitted to
the Head Coach via email as soon as possible. It is crucial that
the coaches know who will be attending the meets when they are
preparing the meet entries. Our meets are seeded (heat and lane
assignments) in advance and this helps to avoid last minute
shuffling of swimmers.
If a swimmer or a
parent volunteer is sick the day of the meet, please call the Meet
Coordinator or Team Representative so they can relay this
information to the Head Clerk of Course and Head Coach.
Refunds
Refunds will be
issued less an administrative fee of $10.00. No refunds will be
issued for equipment purchased.
